Roman Novikov became President of the SAMBO for the Blind Charitable Foundation

A member of the FIAS Commission for Athletes with Visually Impaired Health (Blind and Visually Impaired) Roman Novikov was elected President of the Charitable Foundation for the Support and Development of SAMBO for the Visually Impaired “ SAMBO for the Blind”. The general meeting of the founders of the foundation took place on February 1.

- When we established a charitable foundation in 2015, we could not imagine what we would be able to achieve. Over time, caring philanthropists appeared who helped a lot at the dawn of the organization. One way or another, our foundation has always participated in the organization of the Russian SAMBO Championships for the Blind and in other projects related to the development of SAMBO for the blind and visually impaired. I hope that in the future, donors will pay due attention to the SAMBO for the Blind Foundation, which will allow us to more dynamically develop SAMBO for the blind and visually impaired already at the international level,” Roman Novikov said.

Natalya Novikova, the former president of the organization earlier, completely switched to scientific work related to the development of training programs for athletes in SAMBO for the blind. In June 2019, the SAMBO of the Blind Charitable Foundation won the Presidential Grants Fund competition with the Overcoming International Development of SAMBO for the Blind project, and in 2020 the project was successfully implemented jointly with FIAS and the All-Russian SAMBO Federation.
