The Congress of the European SAMBO Federation was held in Cyprus

On the eve of the start of the European Youth and Junior SAMBO Championships in the city of Limassol (Republic of Cyprus), a congress of the European SAMBO Federation (ESF) was held. The event, which took place on May 25, was attended by 21 representatives of the national SAMBO federations which are ESF members and a representative of the national SAMBO federation of Ireland, who is a candidate for the ESF membership.

The congress was held in a combined format of personal presence and online conference. President of the European SAMBO Federation Sergey Eliseev summed up the results of the current work of the federation in the context of the ongoing pandemic, and also discussed with the audience the licensing process for athletes, coaches and SAMBO clubs, initiated by the International SAMBO Federation (FIAS).

An important issue for the congress participants was the formation of the calendar of European competitions until 2024. The European SAMBO Championships in the future are planned to be held in Russia, Italy and the Netherlands. The European Youth and Junior Championships are to be held in Greece and Lithuania.

In addition to future tournaments, the congress participants discussed the upcoming event - the European Youth and Junior SAMBO Championships and the "Adult" European SAMBO Championships that started in Limassol. The organizers confirmed the participation of more than 350 athletes from 26 countries in these tournaments, which is a significant achievement in the context of the pandemic.
