The Congress of the African Sambo Confederation, dedicated to discussing current issues of SAMBO development on the continent, took place on May 31 in the capital of Egypt – Cairo. The event, held on the eve of the start of the African Championships, was attended by representatives of 20 African countries.

The President of the African Sambo Confederation (CAS), head of the Royal Moroccan Federation of Sambo and Tai-Jitsu Dalil Scalli made a report to the delegates on the work done. In his speech, he noted the growing popularity of SAMBO and the technical skill of African sambists, adding that last year a representative of the African continent once again won the title of the World SAMBO Champion.

The head of CAS emphasized that Africa will continue to do a lot of work to train coaching staff, the referees, administrative personnel and strive to improve the professional level in each country.

“Another priority for each national federation is to gain recognition from the Ministry of Sports and the National Olympic Committee. To achieve this, each federation is obliged to hold national championships and other tournaments annually. We will monitor this closely,” Dalil Scalli informed the delegates.
