Alamjon Mullaev Re-Elected as President of the Asia and Oceania SAMBO Union

On April 14, the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent, hosted the General Elective Congress of the SAMBO Union of Asia and Oceania (SUAO). The event was held in a hybrid format (in-person and online) and brought together delegates from 23 countries. The Congress participants unanimously re-elected Alamjon Mullaev as President of the SAMBO Union of Asia and Oceania, extending his term until 2029.

In his address, the newly re-elected president expressed gratitude for the continued trust and voiced his confidence in the growing popularity of SAMBO in the region:

“Together, as one big family, we will achieve even greater success in the development of our sport,” emphasized Alamjon Mullaev.

Following the presidential election, delegates voted to appoint Suresh Gopi as SUAO General Secretary. Aziz Ibraev, President of the SAMBO Federation of the Kyrgyz Republic, was elected as First Vice President.

The positions of regional Vice Presidents were distributed as follows:

Gerel Dorjpalam (Mongolia) – East Asia;

Gerard Lim (Singapore) – Southeast Asia;

Humayun Kabir (Bangladesh) – South Asia;

Mokhles Albu-Mohammed (Iraq) – West Asia;

Alisher Alimov (Uzbekistan) – Central Asia;

Savely Timofeev (Australia) – Australia and surrounding regions;

Sergey Permitin (New Zealand) – New Zealand and surrounding regions.

Absadyk Nurlybayev (Kazakhstan) was elected Vice President for Finance, while Abbas Ali Akbari (Iran) was appointed Vice President for Special Assignments. Additionally, by personal decree of SUAO President Alamjon Mullaev, François Saad, head of the National SAMBO Federation of Lebanon, was also named Vice President. The Congress went on to approve the new Executive Committee and the chairs and members of the SUAO commissions, whose terms have likewise been extended until 2029.

In the final segment of the meeting, Alexander Korsik, FIAS Director of Finance and Development, presented on the preparations for SAMBO’s participation in the upcoming 2025 World Games in Chengdu, China. Then, Alisher Alimov, SUAO Vice President and President of the Uzbekistan SAMBO Association, informed delegates about the upcoming World Masters SAMBO Championships, which will be held in Uzbekistan in October.
