Alina Paunescu: «As to Athens, My Minimum Goal Is A Medal, And My Ultimate Goal Is Gold»
Silver winner of the "Kharlampiev Memorial" 2018 Sambo World Cup in the over 80 kg weight category Alina Paunescu (Romania) shared in her interview to the FIAS website her sentiments over the results of the tournament, as well as her plans for the nearest future in sports. General sponsor of the tournament is Rosneft oil company.
– Despite my defeat in the finals, I view my silver medal as a success, for this is only my second tournament in six years. I think that in future, step by step, I would raise my level, gradually improve my skills, and gain experience at competitions. I managed to win this medal largely due to my high motivation and intensive training.
Earlier in my life, I was practicing judo, then there was a long hiatus when I was on maternal leave. Only then I’ve decided to try hand at SAMBO, to make a comeback. Now, I’ll engage in preparation for the Championships of Romania, and then for the European Championships. As to Athens, my minimum goal is a medal, and my ultimate goal is gold.
