Arman Avanesyan Named Athlete of the Month by The World Games
In April, Armenian SAMBO athlete Arman Avanesyan became a two-time European Champion, claiming the gold medal in the up to 98 kg Combat SAMBO category. His dominant and confident performance at the tournament in Limassol did not go unnoticed: the International World Games Association, organizer of The World Games, named Arman their Athlete of the Month for April.
Avanesyan won all his matches at the European Championships – including the final – ahead of time. The tournament served as a solid rehearsal for The World Games in Chengdu, where he will represent Armenia this August.
“This is a great opportunity for me to showcase myself at such a major event, especially since I haven’t had the chance to participate in the Olympics before,” Arman noted. “I’m fully committed to preparing for the championship and doing my best to be ready in the right way.”
Known for his discipline and mental resilience, Avanesyan believes consistency outweighs short-term motivation when it comes to elite sport.
“Motivation can be strong one day and weak the next — that’s why resilience and strong willpower are essential,” he explained. “In my opinion, discipline is the key factor behind true success.”
