Tashkent (Uzbekistan) June, 1-6 From June 1st to 6th the capital of Uzbekistan Tashkent hosted the Asian Sambo Championships. Tashkent is the largest city in Uzbekistan and Central Asia, located at the altitude of 440-480m. Tashkent is a city of multinational culture, famous for its hospitality. In June Tashkent was the capital of not only the Asian Sambo Championships, but also of a Asian Sambo Federation Congress. The current ASF President Fazliddin Pulatov was unanimously reelected for the second term (2011-2015). A new leadership of the Asian Sambo Federation was also elected. The official opening ceremony of the competition took place on June 2nd and it was attended by the president of TAFISA (The Association of International Sport for All) Lee Kang-Too (Republic of Korea). The event was also attended by the sports leaders of Uzbekistan, Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Republic of Korea and Afghanistan. The Asian Sambo Championships gathered representatives of 18 countries at Tashkent's mats. Team Kazakhstan triumphed in team classification, finishing ahead of athletes from Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
