Indonesian SAMBO Championships held as part of Indonesian National Games – PON XXI
The Indonesian SAMBO Championships kicked off on September 16 in Langkat, North Sumatra. For the first time in history, the tournament is being held as part of the 21st Indonesian National Games – PON XXI. Athletes representing 22 provinces of Indonesia will compete for medals in Sport and Combat SAMBO among men and women over the course of 4 days.
“Sambists who passed the selection in their provinces entered the fight for the awards of the 21st Indonesian National Games at the Gedung Serba Guna Indoor Stadium. The competition is attended by 141 athletes from different regions of the country. It is a great honor for us to be part of this prestigious competition in the year of the 10th anniversary of the Indonesian SAMBO Federation,” said Krishna Bayu, President of the National SAMBO Federation PP PERSAMBI.

PON XXI is organized and held by the National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI). On the eve of the start of the Sambo competition, KONI President General Marciano Norman met with the President of the Indonesian SAMBO Federation Krishna Bayu, Technical Delegate and Director General of the SAMBO Union of Asia and Oceania Suresh Gopi and Chief Referee of the Indonesian SAMBO Championships Islom Adylov.

The competition will last from September 16 to 19, and sambists from various provinces will have the opportunity to contribute to the overall medal collection of the places they came from. In Sport SAMBO, a total of 11 sets of awards will be contested among men and women. In Combat SAMBO, men and women will together determine the winners of 7 sets of medals.
