2025 World Beach SAMBO Championships to Be Held in Singapore
The Republic of Singapore will host the 5th edition of the World Beach SAMBO Championships. The competition is scheduled for 2-3 August and will take place on beach sports venues located near the Singapore Strait.
"The World Beach SAMBO Championships in Singapore is a historic event for our sport. For the first time, the premier event of the Beach SAMBO calendar will be held on the Asian continent – a fact that carries symbolic meaning. Beach SAMBO made its debut as an independent discipline in Southeast Asia at the Asian Beach Games in Thailand in 2014," said FIAS President Vasily Shestakov.
Teams from 19 countries have submitted applications to participate in the championship. On the first day of competition, athletes will battle for individual titles in eight weight categories. The second day will feature the mixed team event (three men and two women).
Medals will be contested in the following categories:
Men: 58 kg, 71 kg, 88 kg, +88 kg
Women: 50 kg, 59 kg, 72 kg, +72 kg
Mixed Teams: Men – 71 kg, 88 kg, +88 kg; Women – 72 kg, +72 kg
"I’m confident that Singapore will provide an excellent stage for this sporting event, and the participation of top athletes from around the world will once again highlight the dynamic and spectator-friendly nature of this young but increasingly popular discipline. The secret to Beach SAMBO’s success lies not only in its spectacle but also in its accessibility: all you need is sand, a uniform, a passion for the sport, and the desire to win," added Shestakov.
"Without a doubt, this upcoming championship will give a fresh boost to the development of SAMBO not only in Singapore but across Southeast Asia and Oceania. Expanding the geography of our competitions is the clearest proof of the sport’s growing global presence and popularity."
Previous World Beach SAMBO Championships have taken place on three continents: in Europe (Cyprus in 2021 and Israel in 2022), Pan America (Dominican Republic in 2023), and Africa (Morocco in 2024).
