2026 World SAMBO Championships to be held in Uzbekistan, Beach SAMBO Championships – in Brazil
The ancient city of Samarkand in Uzbekistan will host the 2026 World SAMBO Championships. The competition bringing together the world's top SAMBO athletes is scheduled for November 6-8. The decision was approved by members of the International SAMBO Federation's executive committee.
Meanwhile, the Brazilian city of Caraguatatuba will host the World Beach SAMBO Championships on September 12-13. The World Cadet, Youth and Junior Championships will take place in October in Thessaloniki, Greece, while the first of two planned 2026 World SAMBO Cups will be held in Yerevan, Armenia on April 11-12. Veteran athletes will gather to showcase their skills once again at the World Masters SAMBO Championships in early November in Cyprus.
European SAMBO athletes will be the first continent to compete for medals. New champions and medalists will be crowned at the European Youth and Junior SAMBO Championships in Novi Sad, Serbia in April, followed by the senior European Championships in Georgia's capital, Tbilisi, in May.
In June, SAMBO athletes from Asia and Oceania will compete for medals across all age categories in Manila, Philippines.
Following them in July, the Pan American continent's top athletes will determine their continental championship winners and medalists. In addition to Sport SAMBO and Combat SAMBO competitions, they'll also compete for Beach SAMBO medals.
The same competition format is planned for the African continent, where the host country and championship dates will be announced later.
A special highlight of the 2026 calendar is the 1st CISM Military SAMBO Challenge, scheduled for mid-August at Luzhniki – at the International SAMBO Center arena.
Throughout the year, numerous major international tournaments will also take place in various countries, many of which have already become traditional fixtures.
