Pan American SAMBO Championships Set to Begin in Ecuador

From June 27 to 29, the city of Guayaquil, Ecuador, will host the Pan American SAMBO Championships – the continent’s largest tournament organized by the Pan American SAMBO Union with the support of the SAMBO Clubs Association of Ecuador. Athletes will compete in three disciplines: Sport SAMBO, Combat SAMBO, and Beach SAMBO.

Before the start of the main event, participants will have the opportunity to enhance their skills at the Pan American seminars: a Coaching Seminar will take place on June 24-25, followed by a Refereeing Seminar on June 25-26 at the Polideportivo Huancavilca sports complex. In addition, the Pan American SAMBO Union Congress will be held on June 26.

The main competitions will be staged at the José Desimavilla Arena. Preliminary and final bouts in Sport and Combat SAMBO will take place on June 27 and 28. On June 29, champions in individual and team events of the Beach SAMBO tournament will be determined on the beach court of FEDEGUAYAS.

Pan American SAMBO Championships medals in Ecuador will be contested in the following weight categories:

Sport SAMBO

Men: 58 kg, 64 kg, 71 kg, 79 kg, 88 kg, 98 kg, +98 kg

Women: 50 kg, 54 kg, 59 kg, 65 kg, 72 kg, 80 kg, +80 kg

Combat SAMBO

Men: 58 kg, 64 kg, 71 kg, 79 kg, 88 kg, 98 kg, +98 kg

Women: 50 kg, 54 kg, 59 kg, 65 kg, 72 kg, 80 kg, +80 kg

Beach SAMBO

Men: 58 kg, 71 kg, 88 kg, +88 kg

Women: 50 kg, 59 kg, 72 kg, +72 kg

Team Event: Mixed teams of four athletes: two men (71 kg, +71 kg) and two women (59 kg, +59 kg)
