Huíla Provincial SAMBO Championship Draws More Than 80 Athletes

The provincial SAMBO championship has taken place in Lubango, the administrative centre of Huíla Province, Angola. More than 80 athletes competed in Sport SAMBO and Combat SAMBO.

Anaximandro João Paulino, President of the Huíla Provincial SAMBO Association, gave a positive assessment of the tournament’s progress. According to him, the championship marked a qualitative leap compared with last year’s edition, with a noticeable rise in the overall technical level of the participants. He also stressed that SAMBO is consolidating its position as one of the region’s most promising sports.

Huíla is the current national leader in the medal count at national competitions. “The results of the provincial championship confirmed the effectiveness of the team’s preparation and its sporting standing,” the local federation said in a statement.

The provincial team is determined to defend its title at the upcoming national SAMBO championship. According to the organizing committee, the athletes’ strong performance at the provincial stage has given the team additional motivation.
