Green Sports Day: Celebrating the Power of Sports for People and Planet
Green Sports Day is celebrated on October 6th all over the world. Sports for Nature (S4N) and FIAS are excited to join this global movement celebrating the positive impact sports can have on our planet.
To mark this occasion, S4N are thrilled to launch new Sports for Nature sizzle video, highlighting sport’s power to be a force for nature.

First declared in 2016 Green Sports Day has grown into an annual celebration that highlights how sports can inspire environmental and social change. The Green Sports Alliance is continuing to advance the Green Sports Day movement globally to amplify the message for championing environmental responsibility and working towards a greener, more sustainable future for sports.
In 2020, the Global green sports community unites around leading the way towards a more sustainable, just, and resilient future for the sports industry. Year later 116 sports teams, venues, organizations, and companies light green to celebrate and share #GreenSportsDay on social media. 25 athletes empowered to use their voice for climate action.
Last year, 168 organizations across 14 countries marked Green Sports Day with various activities, including lighting up venues in green, launching digital campaigns, and hosting community events. This year, Sports for Nature is committed to amplifying the reach of Green Sports Day by engaging our signatories and partners to participate in this important initiative.
