Chinese Taipei SAMBO Association Held its 2023 National Referee Seminar
The Chinese Taipei SAMBO Association held its 2023 referee seminar at the National Taiwan University of Sport from July 21st to July 23rd. The highlight of the event was the presence of the FIAS International Referee Ms. Carmen Wai Bunn Tang, who taught the national candidates the theory and practice of officiating in SAMBO competitions.

After 3 days of professional training, the certification of participants took place. According to its results, 31 candidates were awarded the certification as a National level Sambo referees. They will become the backbone of the refereeing team for future SAMBO competitions in Chinese Taipei.

“Our referees got their first skills of such work right after the seminar – they took part in the national qualifying tournament to form the National SAMBO team. Athletes who take first place in their weight categories will represent the country in international tournaments. This will allow them to gain experience and test their strength in competition with the strongest sambists in the world,” said Dr. Wang Kuei Yuan, President of the Chinese Taipei SAMBO Association.
