FIAS Invites Sambists to the ITA Seminar on out-of-competition testing and ADAMS system

The International SAMBO Federation invites sambists, supporting personal, and everyone interested to join the fifth edition of the International Testing Agency (ITA) webinar series. The webinar will take place on Wednesday, 19 June, and will reveal the topic "Out-of-Competition Testing. Includes requirements of RTP/TP, whereabouts, use of ADAMS."

Doping control (testing) is one tool that Anti-Doping Organizations (ADOs) use to level the playing field and protect clean sports. Tests could made with urine or blood samples. Once a sample is collected, it is sent to a WADA-accredited laboratory to be analysed. They never know whose sample they have, as it is anonymous.

There are also two ways of collecting the samples: in-competition and out-of-competition testing. The first one takes place either immediately after the athlete finishes competing or at any time during an event, tournament, or game. Out-of-competition testing can take place at any time of the year and at any location, including your home, training venue, hotel, or when you're overseas.

The Anti-Doping Administration and Management System (ADAMS) is the tool all athletes have to use to submit their whereabouts information. Understanding and using ADAMS effectively is crucial for athletes, as it helps them comply with the rules of their sport from anywhere in the world. ADAMS also supports delegating this responsibility to an authorized representative, such as a team manager, agent, or other third party.

When an athlete is chosen for the out of competition pool for the first time, it can be a challenging experience, especially with filling the whereabouts form. To help you navigate this process, the International SAMBO Federation strongly recommends the upcoming webinar for athletes, coaches, supporting personal, medical and administration staff. By understanding the topic, you can equip yourself and your team members to face this period as prepared as possible and minimize any risks. We look forward to your active participation.

The webinar will be held at 14:00-15:00 CEST
