World SAMBO Cup to be held in Cholpon-Ata

The city of Cholpon-Ata in the Kyrgyz Republic will host a major sports tournament – ​​the World SAMBO Cup – from August 15 to 16. Men and women in Sport and Combat SAMBO will compete for the title of best athletes in 26 weight categories.

The general partner of the World Cup will be Rosneft oil company.

The competition will be held in the following weight categories:

Sport SAMBO (men): 58 kg, 64 kg, 71 kg, 79 kg, 88 kg, 98 kg, +98 kg

Sport SAMBO (women): 50 kg, 54 kg, 59 kg, 65 kg, 72 kg, 80 kg, +80 kg

Combat SAMBO (men): 58 kg, 64 kg, 71 kg, 79 kg, 88 kg, 98 kg, +98 kg

Combat SAMBO (women): 54 kg, 59 kg, 65 kg, 72 kg, 80 kg

“Holding major international tournaments in the Kyrgyz Republic is gradually becoming a good tradition: for the second year in a row, the World Cup will be held on the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul in the city of Cholpon-Ata. This tournament will allow athletes to earn ranking points, and for representatives of women's and men's Сombat SAMBO, it will become one of the selection stages for participation in the 2025 World Games in Chengdu, China.

During the World Cup, the participants will be able to test their physical strength, improve their technical skills and gain invaluable experience on the eve of the start of the main international tournaments of the FIAS calendar: the World Beach SAMBO Championships in Casablanca (Morocco), the World Youth and Junior SAMBO Championships in Larnaca (Cyprus) and the World Sambo Championships in Astana (Kazakhstan),” said Vasily Shestakov, President of the International SAMBO Federation.

The World SAMBO Cup in Kyrgyzstan will be the second competition of this level this year. The first World Cup was held on April 4-5 in Yerevan (Armenia).
