SAMBO Absolute Cup for the Prizes of the Union State was Held in Sochi

On December 7, in the Russian city of Sochi, the SAMBO Absolute Cup for the Prizes of the Union State was held. The tournament was attended by 16 top sambists from 14 countries who fought for the title of winner in the absolute weight category.

The bronze winners of the competition were three-time World SAMBO Champion, four-time European SAMBO Champion from Belarus Andrey Kazusenok and two-time World SAMBO Champion, three-time European SAMBO Champion from Russia Vyacheslav Mikhaylin. Silver was won by the winner of the Russian SAMBO Cup, winner of the International SAMBO Tournament for the prizes of the President of Tatarstan, Russian Arthur Khaptsev. The winner of the SAMBO Absolute Cup for the Prizes of the Union State was four-time World SAMBO Champion and five-time European SAMBO Champion from Belarus Yuri Rybak.

The SAMBO Absolute Cup for the Prizes of the Union State was dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the signing of the agreement on the creation of the Union State of Belarus and Russia. As the organizers noted, the main purpose of the event is the development and popularization of SAMBO. This is the second tournament organized by the Athletes Association “We are from SAMBO”. Competitions were held with the support of FIAS and the All-Russian SAMBO Federation.
