Burdikov Memorial will be Held in Kstovo this Weekend

The international tournament in memory of Mikhail Burdikov traditionally takes place in the Russian city of Kstovo. For two days on August 18-19, the International Olympic Sports Academy will host competitions in sports sambo among men and women. After the tournament is over, the teams will be able to stay in the international camp for four days – from August 20 to 23 – to perfect their skills in sparring with strong rivals from different countries.

The Burdikov Memorial will be held in Kstovo for the third time. Last year 220 sambists arrived from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and, of course, Russia. A key feature of the tournament is the opportunity for athletes not only to meet their future rivals on the mat and compete for the title of the winner, but also gain experience from each other at the international training camp after the competitions. And, of course, participation in these competitions allows sambusts to honor the memory of Mikhail Burdikov, one of the founders of SAMBO in Nizhny Novgorod region.

Mikhail Gennadievich Burdikov is an Honored Trainer of Russia, an Honored Worker of Physical Culture, an Honorary Citizen of the Nizhny Novgorod region and the founder of the World SAMBO Academy (International Olympic Sports Academy), where competitions are held in his memory. Mikhail Burdikov devoted his entire life to his favorite sport, creating and promoting the World SAMBO Academy. As a coach, he trained 6 Honored Masters of Sports, 16 Masters of Sports of International Level, 83 Masters of Sports of the USSR and Russia.
