International FIAS Coaches and Referees Seminar to Take Place in Brussels

The International SAMBO Federation (FIAS) will hold a coaches and referees seminar in Brussels, Belgium, from January 30 to February 1, 2026. The three-day event will take place at Stadium – the most prestigious and largest sports club in Belgium and the entire Benelux region – under the guidance of FIAS Sports Director, Professor Sergey Tabakov.

The seminar program covers both theoretical and practical aspects of SAMBO. Participants will study Sport SAMBO and Combat SAMBO refereeing rules, SAMBO techniques classification, and biomechanical aspects of the sport. Practical sessions will focus on various techniques including hold downs, turnings, painful holds for arms and legs, and different types of throws.

The first day will concentrate on refereeing rules and fundamental techniques. The second day will address the theoretical classification of SAMBO techniques and their biomechanical principles, followed by practical work on hand throws and leg locks. The final day will cover teaching and training methods, with extensive practice on leg and body throws, concluding with theoretical and practical examinations.

“Brussels was chosen in coordination with the Belgian SAMBO federation, as it is a convenient location for athletes, coaches, and referees from Western Europe,” said Professor Sergey Tabakov. “Representatives from many European countries will find it easy to come here for training. At the same time, we do not limit attendance – participants from any country in the world are welcome. This is a good opportunity to gain fresh knowledge at the beginning of the year or refresh existing skills.”
