World Youth and Junior SAMBO Championships to Be Held in Indonesia
From October 3 to 5, Indonesia will host the World Youth and Junior SAMBO Championships for the first time. The tournament will take place in the picturesque West Java region, in Bogor District, at the JSI Resort Megamendung arena, bringing together the strongest young sambists from around the world.
The championships will feature the best male and female sambists aged 16 to 20, competing for the title of the world’s strongest in both Sport and Combat SAMBO. Hosting such a high-level event in Indonesia marks a new and significant chapter in the history of SAMBO in Asia and highlights the sport’s growing global popularity.
Over three days of competition, 37 sets of medals will be contested across the youth (16-18 years) and junior (18-20 years) categories.
Weight categories:
Youth Men (Sport SAMBO): 53 kg, 58 kg, 64 kg, 71 kg, 79 kg, 88 kg, 98 kg, +98 kg
Youth Women (Sport SAMBO): 47 kg, 50 kg, 54 kg, 59 kg, 65 kg, 72 kg, 80 kg, +80 kg

Junior Men (Combat SAMBO): 58 kg, 64 kg, 71 kg, 79 kg, 88 kg, 98 kg, +98 kg
Each athlete may compete in only one discipline, one age category, and one weight class.
“Hosting the World Youth and Junior SAMBO Championships in Indonesia is a strategically important step in strengthening the sport’s presence in Southeast Asia. Indonesian athletes are already showing strong results at major continental events. For example, at the Asia and Oceania SAMBO Championships held in April, Desiana Syafitri of Indonesia won a silver medal in the women’s Combat SAMBO 54 kg category. This achievement is clear evidence of the progress of SAMBO in Indonesia.
I am confident that the World Youth and Junior Championships will be held at the highest level and will inspire a new generation of athletes in Indonesia and across the region to reach new sporting heights,” noted FIAS President Vasily Shestakov.
A live broadcast of the championships will be available on the SamboLive platform: www.sambo.live
