Philippines Hosts National SAMBO Referee Seminar

In a significant step towards elevating the standards of SAMBO officiating nationwide, the Pilipinas SAMBO Federation (PSF), under the leadership of President Paolo Tancontian, conducted its 2025 National Referee Seminar on 18^th July.

The prestigious Tagaytay Indoor Combat Stadium provided the backdrop for this gathering. A dedicated cohort of 35 referee participants, representing 10 provinces across the Philippine archipelago, immersed themselves in the intensive seminar designed to refine their skills and deepen their understanding of international SAMBO rules and protocols.

Bringing world-class expertise directly to the Philipino SAMBO community, the seminar was officiated by a panel of FIAS International Referees:

- Ms. Stella Sjahlim

- Ms. Tang Wai Bunn

- Mr. Martin Tandionugroho

“Their presence underscored FIAS's commitment to supporting the development of SAMBO globally and specifically within the thriving Philippine scene. The esteemed referees shared their extensive knowledge and practical insights, ensuring participants received training aligned with the highest international benchmarks,” – said Suresh Gopi, Secretary General of the SAMBO Union of Asia & Oceania (SUAO).

He introduced the FIAS officials and warmly welcomed all participants on behalf of both SUAO and the International SAMBO Federation (FIAS), highlighting the importance of continuous referee education for the sport's integrity and growth.
