Armenian National SAMBO Championship and Team Selection Held in Yerevan

Armenian national SAMBO championship took place in Yerevan on March 22. More than 130 of the country's top athletes competed in both Sport SAMBO and Combat SAMBO events at the Dinamo Sports Society arena. The tournament also served as the official selection process for the Armenian national team ahead of this season's international competitions.

“The championship delivered a tense, dynamic, and spectacular atmosphere. Every bout was packed with grit, emotion, and skill. The athletes demonstrated an impressive level of preparation, determination, and true professionalism,” the SAMBO Federation of Armenia said in a statement.

Both established names in Armenian SAMBO and less experienced competitors stepped onto the mats in pursuit of medals. In some bouts, the underdogs managed to turn heads, but when the dust settled, the favorites largely held their ground across most weight categories – reaffirming their dominance and earning the right to represent Armenia on the international stage.

The next major event on the FIAS calendar will be held right in Yerevan: the World SAMBO Cup is scheduled for April 11-12 in the Armenian capital.
