The ECCAS Open SAMBO International Tournament will be held in Cameroon
The ECCAS (Economic Community of Central African States) Open SAMBO International Tournament will be held for the first time in history on September 28-29 in Cameroon. Athletes from various countries of the continent will compete for medals in Sport and Combat SAMBO in Yaounde among both men and women.
The main organizer and ideological inspirer of the tournament is the Cameroonian national SAMBO federation. The tournament will be held at the Mfandena Omnisport Gymnasium arena, well known to sambists. It is expected that athletes in several age categories will take part in the competition: juniors and adults.
They will compete for medals in the following weight categories:
Sport SAMBO (men): 58 kg, 64 kg, 71 kg, 79 kg, 88 kg, 98 kg, +98 kg
Sport SAMBO (women): 59 kg, 65 kg, 72 kg, +80 kg
Combat SAMBO (men): 58 kg, 64 kg, 71 kg, 79 kg, 88 kg, 98 kg, +98 kg
Combat SAMBO (women): 54 kg, 59 kg, 65 kg, 72 kg
“We have talked a lot about the fact that we want and can hold high-level international SAMBO tournaments in Cameroon. And we have proven this with the example of the African SAMBO Championships, which were held in our country twice: in 2014 and 2022. I am confident that the experience accumulated over these years will allow us to adequately cope with holding another major competition, which will serve the development of SAMBO both in our country and on the entire continent,” said the head of Cameroonian SAMBO Francois Mbassi.
Detailed information about the tournament is posted in the competition regulations in the FIAS calendar: ECCAS OPEN SAMBO INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT (ECONOMIC COMMUNITY OF CENTRAL AFRICAN STATES)
