FIAS Executive Committee Approves Amendments to Regulations and 2026 Sports Calendar
The Executive Committee of the International SAMBO Federation (FIAS) held a meeting on March 31.
The session was attended by FIAS President Vasily Shestakov, First Vice-President Sergey Eliseev, Vice-Presidents Dalil Skalli, Alamjon Mullaev, Roman Novikov, Eliseo Romero, Executive Committee members Ivan Egorov, Laure Fournier, Ying Ka Jeremia Fung, Mikael Hayrapetyan, Aziz Ibraev, Merampi Ilyadis, Mikhail Kozitsky, François Mbassi, Seongcheon Mun, Mariya Oryashkova, Vadim Rogach, Sydney Sy, Acting FIAS Secretary General Alexander Korsik, as well as Honorary Executive Committee Member Roberto Ferraris.
The Executive Committee approved changes to the schedule of major international events in the 2026 FIAS calendar. According to the decision, the World SAMBO Cup will take place in August in Dushanbe (Tajikistan), while the World Championships, originally scheduled for Samarkand, have been relocated to Tashkent (Uzbekistan).
During the meeting, a number of amendments to the International SAMBO Rules were adopted. These changes affect both Sport SAMBO and Combat Sambo, as well as sections governing competitions for athletes with visual and hearing impairments. As part of these updates, the Classification Rules of SAMBO for the Blind and Visually Impaired athletes were revised, and the FIAS Specification Sheet for the Manufacturing of a Helmet for Blind SAMBO was approved – establishing unified standards for safety and equipment in this category.
In addition to competition rules, the amendments also cover organizational and disciplinary matters. Updates were approved to the FIAS Sport and Organizational Rules, the FIAS Regulations on SAMBO Referees, and the procedures for the Certification of SAMBO Athletes, Coaches and Accreditation of SAMBO Clubs. Amendments to the FIAS Disciplinary Code are intended to strengthen ethical standards and accountability within the sport.
The implementation of these decisions will help unify competition practices, enhance athlete safety, and support the continued development of international SAMBO.
