Representatives from 19 countries will take part in the African SAMBO Championships

The African SAMBO Championships will take place on June 1-3 in Cairo, Egypt. It is expected that teams from 19 countries of the continent will take part in the competition. Medals will be awarded in competitions in Sport, Combat and Beach SAMBO.

The competition will be attended by representatives from Algeria, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo Brazzaville, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Ghana, Guinea, Egypt, Ivory Coast, Mauritius, Morocco, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Togo and Tunisia.

The competition will be held in the following weight categories:

Sport SAMBO (women): 59 kg, 65 kg, 72 kg

Sport SAMBO (men): 58 kg, 64 kg, 71 kg, 79 kg, 88 kg, 98 kg, +98 kg

Combat SAMBO (women): 54 kg, 59 kg, 65 kg, 72 kg, 80 kg

Combat SAMBO (men): 58 kg, 64 kg, 71 kg, 79 kg, 88 kg, 98 kg, +98 kg

Beach SAMBO (women): 50 kg, 59 kg, 72 kg, +72 kg

Beach SAMBO (men): 58 kg, 71 kg, 88 kg, +88 kg

For Combat SAMBO wrestlers (women, men), this tournament will be one of the stages of selection for the World Games, which will take place from August 7 to 17, 2025 in Chengdu (People's Republic of China).

In 2021, the capital of Egypt has already hosted the African Sambo Championships.
