Resolution of the FIAS Executive Committee adopted at an Extraordinary Meeting

The meeting of the Executive Committee of the International SAMBO Federation was held on March 3.

RESOLUTION

of the Executive Committee meeting of the International SAMBO Federation (FIAS)

Based on the principles of the Olympic Charter, the provisions of the FIAS Statutes,

Considering, that sport is an instrument of ensuring peace and solidarity throughout the world,

Emphasizing the inadmissibility of the politicization of sports events and sports in general,

Considering, that the priority of FIAS activity is to protect of the rights of athletes, regardless of nationality, race, religion, gender,

Following the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee dated February 25th and February 28th, 2022

The FIAS Executive Committee declares:

a) to confirm the suspension of international sambo competitions under the auspices of FIAS in Russia and Belarus from 27.02.2022;

b) to allow the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes in FIAS international competitions under the FIAS flag, logo and anthem;

c) on the commitment to the position on the participation of athletes in the competitions as an additional measure to ensure peace and solidarity within the international sambo community.
