SAMBO Officially Included in the Program of the 12th Central American Games 2025

SAMBO competitions will take place as part of the 12th Central American Games on October 22-23 in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. The decision to include SAMBO in the list of sports for this multi-sport event was made at the Assembly of the Central American Games Organizing Committee (ORDECA).

Alongside SAMBO, wrestling, flag football, and esports were also added to the list of disciplines. The total number of disciplines for the 2025 Games has now reached 42. The Games are scheduled to take place from October 18 to 30 across three countries: Guatemala, Honduras, and Panama.

Eliseo Romero, President of the Pan American SAMBO Union (UPASA), emphasized the importance of this milestone for the region:

"The inclusion of SAMBO in the official sports program of the Central American Games is a major step for the entire SAMBO community. It will serve as a powerful boost for the development of SAMBO in Central America and attract many new young athletes to our sport."

It’s worth noting that SAMBO has already had experience participating in the Central American Games. At the 11th Games in 2017 in Managua, it was featured as a demonstration sport. Now, SAMBO has been granted full competitive status for the 2025 Games.
