Traditional “Fedor Cup” SAMBO Tournament Held in Santiago
Santiago's Victor Jara Stadium hosted the traditional “Fedor Cup” SAMBO tournament on December 20th. The event, organized by the Chilean National Sports Federation of SAMBO and Martial Arts, is an annual fixture in the national competitive calendar for Chilean SAMBO athletes.

This year's tournament, which essentially served as the national SAMBO championship, has been held continuously since 2014 and stands as one of the most important competitions for advancing the sport in Chile.

“The Fedor Cup plays a crucial role in identifying, developing, and recognizing athletes, facilitating their advancement at both national and international levels. The competition is held in honor of Fedor Emelianenko, the legendary world SAMBO champion and outstanding ambassador of the sport, whose legacy embodies the values of excellence, discipline, and competitive spirit,” according to a statement from the Chilean SAMBO Federation.

Since its inception, the Fedor Cup has been held annually in various formats, ranging from large-scale competitions to more intimate tournaments.

“Regardless of the scale, each tournament carries the spirit and determination of 'The Last Emperor,' inspiring all participants with passion, strength, and dedication,” the national federation noted.

This year's competition featured over 40 athletes competing in Sport SAMBO and Combat SAMBO across 7 weight categories in the men's division.

The Chilean SAMBO Federation emphasized the importance of such events for the sustainable development of the discipline in the country. The “Fedor Cup” served as a qualifying tournament for forming the national team that will represent Chile at the 2026 Pan American Championship.
