Beach SAMBO tournament was held in the Dominican Republic

A beach in the province of San Cristobal became the venue for a Beach SAMBO tournament in the Dominican Republic. 10 teams took part in the team competition, which included representatives from various regions of the country.

“SAMBO bouts on the beach always arouse increased interest from others. People come up and watch what is happening with interest, discovering a new sport. This was the case this time on the territory of the Coconut Paradise complex, where our tournament took place. Moreover, thanks to the large number of participants and guests, the event received widespread media coverage. Such media attention will undoubtedly benefit our sport,” said the President of the Dominican Sambo Federation, Eliseo Romero.

The winner of the team tournament was the team from the province of Azua. However, the sambists were not going to stop there and held an open tournament, where the absolute winner of the competition was determined. It was Yancarlos Amador from the province of San Cristobal, who demonstrated a high level of preparation and good technique.

“The past competitions became an important stage in the preparation of Dominican athletes for international tournaments. We were able to check the current level of preparedness of sambists, and also provided them with the opportunity to feel the competitive spirit. On a personal note, I would like to add that such events are aimed not only at encouraging SAMBO training in the Dominican Republic, but also at promoting the values of camaraderie, discipline and self-improvement that characterize it,” concluded Eliseo Romero.
