A seminar for Cuban sambists was held in Havana

An educational and training seminar for Cuban sambists took place on July 17 in Havana. The athletes were trained at the Manuel Fajardo University of Sciences of Physical Culture and Sport (UCCFD). Classes with the athletes were conducted by the President of the Cuban SAMBO and Related Disciplines Association, UCCFD University Professor Yusimil Ramos and International SAMBO Federation instructor Sergey Dmitriev.

The seminar was attended by members of the national SAMBO team, students of the UCCFD Sports University, as well as representatives of the Cuban judo and jiu-jitsu federations who were interested in learning a new martial art.

– Intensive training took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Together with the athletes, we analyzed modern Sport and Combat SAMBO techniques: throws, painful holds on the legs and arms, various combinations of throws and painful holds. We spent a lot of time not only on practice, but also on the theory of practicing SAMBO techniques, and also outlined the advantages of SAMBO and the differences in rules from other types of martial arts,” Sergey Dmitriev said.
