Balkans Open Sambo Championship was held in Greece
The Balkans Open Sambo Championship was held on December 22-23, 2023 in the city of Amyntaio, Greece. About 100 cadets and young men from 7 countries took part in the tournament. Sambists from Greece, Moldova, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Serbia and Ukraine took part in the competition.
The tournament also hosted a meeting of the presidents and representers of the SAMBO federations of the Balkan countries, during which it was decided to expand the tournament and include new age categories. All presidents of national federations supported this decision, starting with competitions in 2024.
It is planned that the next Balkan tournament will be held in September in Moldova. Also during the meeting, other initiatives for the development of SAMBO in the region and improving cooperation between national federations were discussed.
