The II National SAMBO Selection Tournament took place on April 18 in Chilpancingo, the administrative center of the state of Guerrero. The event was organized by the Mexican Federation of SAMBO Clubs, Coaches and Athletes (FEMECEAS), with athletes competing in two disciplines: Sport SAMBO and Combat SAMBO.

“More than 100 SAMBO athletes representing 20 states of the country took part in the tournament – a strong testament to the sport's rapid growth in Mexico. For many competitors, these tournaments were the decisive stage in the fight for a spot on the national team,” the tournament organizing committee said.

Alongside the main event, the National Beach SAMBO Selection Tournament was held on the same day, April 18, on the beaches of Acapulco, also in the state of Guerrero. Based on its results, the national Beach SAMBO team was selected to compete at the Pan American Championships in Costa Rica and the World SAMBO Championships in Brazil.
