Vasily Shestakov Highlights Fedor Emelianenko’s Contribution to the Development of SAMBO
During the 2025 World SAMBO Championships in Bishkek, FIAS President Vasily Shestakov emphasized the special role of Fedor Emelianenko in promoting and developing SAMBO worldwide.
The legendary athlete – a four-time world champion and SAMBO Ambassador – attended the tournament’s Opening Ceremony, receiving a warm round of applause from both the audience and participants.
“It is a great honor for us to welcome a SAMBO legend – Fedor Emelianenko. As a SAMBO Ambassador and four-time world champion, he continues to inspire thousands of young athletes. His example has helped make SAMBO a symbol of courage, skill, and strength of spirit,” said Vasily Shestakov.
The FIAS President noted that Emelianenko’s work as an athlete, coach, and public figure has made a significant contribution to the global advancement of SAMBO. His participation in federation activities and his support for young athletes help preserve the sport’s traditions and nurture a new generation of sambists.
