Historical sambo inclusion into the program of the Universiade was in 2013, when students’ games were held at home of the martial art — in Russia. The tournament proved stunning success and remained in the memory of all sambo lovers forever. FIAS Executive Director Sergey Tabakov acted as a technical delegate of the International University Sports Sambo and Judo Federation in Kazan. Sergey Tabakov was awarded commemorative medal “XXVII World Summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan” for his contribution into the preparation of and running the competitions.
