Dmitry Gerasimenko: «To Me, This Tournament Was Especially Important»

Bronze winner of the "Kharlampiev Memorial" 2018 Sambo World Cup in the under 90 kg weight category in sport SAMBO Dmitry Gerasimenko (Serbia) revealed in his interview to the FIAS website what he had been lacking in order to win a medal of a higher value, as well as of his goals regarding the European Championships. General sponsor of the tournament is Rosneft oil company.

– To win a prize of a higher value, I found myself lacking a bit of experience just in SAMBO. To me, this particular tournament was especially important, as, firstly, it was the World Cup, that is one of the major competitions, and secondly, it was held at SAMBO-70, in the very place I’d been training before. The medal that I’ve won at the "Kharlampiev Memorial" 2018 Sambo World Cup is my first award at the competitions of such a high level. This success gives me an impetus for the further victories. Now, my goal is to perform successfully at the European Championships in Greece, and, of course, to secure a European Games berth.
