International seminar for referees in Moscow — an opportunity for improvement

An international SAMBO seminar for referees will be held in Moscow from March 22 to 24. The event will be held in the Aerostar Hotel just before the start of the A. Kharlampiev Memorial World Cup. Referees from around the world will get together to improve their skills, share their experience with colleagues and check their own knowledge during exams.

A similar seminar held before last year's A. Kharlampiev Memorial World Cup took place at the renowned SAMBO-70 school. The main topic of that seminar concerned the changes in the SAMBO rules, which were experimentally introduced on January 1, 2015. As the FIAS website reported at the time, referees had differing opinions about the innovations, actively discussed them and tried to understand the finer points.

A year later, the changes had been approved at a meeting of the Executive Board of the International SAMBO Federation and finally entered into force. Athletes, referees and spectators quickly got used to the new format for competitions. Most of them agreed that the new rules made SAMBO tournaments more intense and spectacular.

However, despite the improvement in the SAMBO rules, referees still have a very difficult and responsible job. That is why they regularly try to attend SAMBO seminars, where they have an opportunity for improvement and for sharpening their professional skills.

Documents related to the seminar are available in the FIAS calendar on the events page:+
