New Year's Address from the FIAS President Vasily Shestakov

Dear friends, dear SAMBO fans!

The year 2024 is coming to an end, it became a year of great historical achievements for us.

We managed to conquer a new height – SAMBO competitions became part of the African Games in Ghana. Thus, our favorite sport is included in the program of almost all world and continental multi-sport events. The popularity of SAMBO is constantly growing, and today it is actively developing in 140 countries.

We took an important step forward by holding SAMBO competitions among totally blind athletes in the World Championships program. This historical event emphasizes that SAMBO is a sport for everyone, without borders and restrictions.

Another milestone was that Combat SAMBO among women was included in the program of most international tournaments. This not only strengthened the position of our sport, but also gave the spectators incredible emotions.

A great contribution to the popularization of our sport is made by the SAMBO Ambassador to the world Fedor Emelianenko. His regular participation in major international tournaments invariably arouses great interest from spectators, participants and the media.

The year 2025 promises to be no less significant. The main event will be the Combat SAMBO competitions in the program of the World Games, which will be held in August in Chengdu, China. This return after 32 years is a real triumph for SAMBO!

And of course, we are expecting many bright events at our traditional tournaments: the World Championships and the World Youth and Junior Championships, the World Beach SAMBO Championships and World Cups, Сontinental Сhampionships and other international competitions.

In the coming year, I want to wish you good health, energy and new victories. May the New Year bring joy, good luck and the fulfillment of your most cherished dreams.
