Regulations of the FIAS World Ranking List Updated

The Executive Committee of the International SAMBO Federation has approved the updated Regulations of the FIAS World Ranking List. The ranking system not only provides a clear reflection of athletes’ achievements, but it can also influence tournament seedings in SAMBO competitions.The official draw for all events included in the FIAS ranking system will take each participant’s ranking into account.

Regulations of the FIAS World Ranking List

I. Rules for the distribution of ranking tournaments

Each tournament included in the FIAS ranking must meet the following criteria:

- the tournament must be held using the FIAS secretarial system;

- ranking tournaments should not be held in the format of an open national championship;

- only adults participate in the ranking selection;

- multi-sport games are not included in the FIAS ranking.

II. List of ranking tournaments

1. World Championships.

2. World Cups.

3. Continental Championships.

4. Continental Cups (open).

III. Admission of participants to ranking tournaments

In the World Championships and Continental Championships, 1 athlete per country is allowed in each weight category.

In the World Cup, 2 athletes per country are allowed in each weight category.

In the Continental Cup, 4 athletes per country are allowed in each weight category.

IV. Rules for calculating ranking points

1. The points are calculated over 2 calendar years.

2. The points for the previous year are taken into account with a coefficient of 0.5.

3. The athlete's 4 best results for 2 years are counted (taking into account the coefficient of 0.5 for the previous year).

4. The ranking is calculated separately for each discipline and weight category (points are not transferred from weight to weight and are not summed up by discipline).

5. If an athlete changes citizenship during a calendar year, he loses all points scored and starts from 0.

V. Conditions for obtaining ranking points

VI. Determining the places in the ranking

1. Places in the ranking are determined by the highest number of points.

2. In case of equality of the sum of points, the advantage is determined by the following principle:

- by the higher number of points for the World Championships;

- by the higher number of points for the World Cup;

- by the higher number of points for the Continental Championship;

- by the higher number of points for the Continental Cups;

- by the quality of the matches held at the tournaments in which all athletes with the same number of points participated.

VII. Awarding based on the results of the ranking

Based on the results of the ranking, the winners (1st, 2nd and one 3rd place) are awarded with commemorative prizes.

VIII. Addition

The official draw for all competitions included in the FIAS ranking is conducted taking into account the ranking of each participant.
