Rating of sambists will be taken into account during draw procedure at FIAS competitions

The draw for the main events in 2024 (World Cup, Continental Championships, World Championships) should take place taking into account the FIAS rating. The corresponding decision was made by members of the Executive Committee of the International Sambo Federation.

This decision concerns adult competitions in Sport and Combat SAMBO for men and women. At the first rating event (World Cup in Armenia), the draw is carried out randomly; at all subsequent events in 2024, the rating of athletes is taken into account automatically during the draw.

Also, members of the Executive Committee of the International Sambo Federation voted for the following list of changes, which came into force on March 31, 2024:

1. Amend Article 8. Uniform regulations

8.12. It is allowed to use bandages and tapes to protect the joints (the bandages and tapes on the knee joint must be covered with a bandage or elastic kneepad in the color of the uniform (red or blue)), while the kneepad should cover no more than 1/3 of the thigh and no more than 1/3 of the shin relative to the knee joint.

Amendments to the International Combat SAMBO Rules (all age categories)

1. Amend Article 8. Uniform regulations

Amendments to the Beach SAMBO Competition Rules

1. Amend Article 7. Contestant uniform

P. 4. Bandages and tapes shall be permitted in order to prevent injuries to joints. Any open areas of the body (for example, the knee joint) must be covered with a bandage or elastic kneepad tape in the color of the uniform (red or blue), while the kneepad should cover no more than 1/3 of the thigh and no more than 1/3 of the shin relative to the knee joint.
