Timeless SAMBO: Bukhara to Host 2025 World SAMBO Masters Championships – Regulations Published

From October 24 to 26, the ancient city of Bukhara, Uzbekistan, will welcome athletes aged 35 and older for the World SAMBO Masters Championships. For these competitors, SAMBO is more than a sport – it’s a lifelong passion.
The event will be held at the “Universal” Sports Complex. The tournament is organized by the SAMBO Association of Uzbekistan with the support of the International SAMBO Federation (FIAS).
Full participation details can be found in the official competition regulations, now available in the FIAS calendar: World SAMBO Masters Championships 2025.
The Masters Championships offer a unique format. While youthful intensity may give way to experience and composure, the spirit of competition remains as strong as ever. Athletes are grouped by age categories – from 35 up to 65+ – and compete in standard weight divisions ranging from 64 kg to over 98 kg.
But this tournament is more than just a sporting event. It’s a celebration of dedication, continuity, and respect. Many competitors return to the mat years – or even decades – after their peak professional careers, driven by the enduring camaraderie and love for the sport. For them, SAMBO is not just a chapter in life – it’s a foundation.
Bukhara is a fitting location for this celebration. As a city steeped in history and tradition, it will offer a symbolic and inspiring setting for athletes from around the world to reconnect with the essence of SAMBO and the excitement of international competition.
