Seminar in Perth: A New Step for SAMBO Development in Australia

A two-day SAMBO seminar for athletes and coaches took place last weekend in Perth, Australia. Martial arts enthusiasts from Western Australia took part in training sessions led by the President of the SAMBO Federation of Australia, Savely Timofeev.

Participants spent over eight hours on the mats, engaging in intensive practice and knowledge sharing. The first day focused on preparing coaches, instructors, and advanced athletes representing different martial arts clubs and disciplines. The second day was dedicated to young practitioners who see their future in Sport and Combat SAMBO and plan to compete in tournaments.

Alongside Savely Timofeev, the seminar was attended by representatives of major sports organizations: President of WAKO Australia, Alexey Perov; BJJ club leader, Stephen Lloyd; Westcoast Kudo club director and President of the Western Australia SAMBO Federation, Kohl Yates. Together, they developed a roadmap for SAMBO development in Western Australia and agreed on the dates of the first Beach SAMBO competitions, expected to take place at Scarborough Beach.

“This event was a real challenge for the South Australia SAMBO Federation, where such tournaments have traditionally been held. However, it is Western Australia that has the ambition and all the necessary conditions to become the future hub for national and international Beach SAMBO championships. The local infrastructure and strong support from municipal authorities, who are keen to promote tourism, create excellent opportunities to attract new participants and spectators to this dynamic and spectacular sport,” Savely Timofeev noted.
