Venezuelan SAMBO Federation Gearing Up to Launch "SAMBO to Schools" Project

The Venezuelan SAMBO Federation has unveiled its strategic roadmap for 2026 during an official meeting at the Ministry of Sports, bringing together representatives from the Olympic Committee, the National Sports Institute (IND), and the Ministry of Sports.

With backing from Sports Minister Franklin Carrillo, the federation secured approval to compete in the year's major international tournaments, including the Pan American Championships, World Beach SAMBO Championships, World Cadet, Youth and Junior Championships, and the Senior World SAMBO Championships. The highlight of the domestic calendar will be the "Caracas 2026" National Games, where sambo is set to take center stage.

The meeting's biggest outcome was the green light for two major development initiatives aimed at strengthening SAMBO's footprint across Venezuela.

Project One: "Building Our Identity" focuses on training and upskilling coaches and referees nationwide in every state. This initiative is designed to establish uniform training standards and boost technical expertise throughout the country.

Project Two: "SAMBO to Schools" will integrate SAMBO into the education system, ensuring grassroots participation and sport development across the nation. By bringing SAMBO directly into schools, the federation aims to build a sustainable pipeline of young athletes and expand the sport's presence in Venezuelan society.

"The Venezuelan SAMBO Federation is entering 2026 with bold ambitions for both domestic growth and international success. We have a team of dedicated professionals working hard to take SAMBO in Venezuela to the next level," stated National Federation President Cesar Arteaga.
