Asia and Oceania SAMBO Championships and Youth and Junior SAMBO Championships to Be Held in Manila for the First Time in History
From June 25 to 28, Manila, Philippines, will host two major continental SAMBO events: the Asia and Oceania SAMBO Championships for senior athletes and the Asia and Oceania Youth and Junior SAMBO Championships. The competitions will take place at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium and mark the first time in history that the premier SAMBO events of the continent are held in the Philippines.
Earlier, the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) officially expressed its support for the organization of the Championships. PSC Chairman Patrick Gregorio emphasized that hosting international sporting events of this scale plays an important role in promoting sports tourism and strengthening the country’s position as a destination for major international competitions.
The events are organized by the SAMBO Union of Asia and Oceania(SUAO) in cooperation with the Philippine SAMBO Federation (PSFI). Organizers expect more than 500 athletes, coaches, officials, and delegates from 31 countries and territories across the Asia-Pacific region to take part in the championships.
