Michal Buchel Steps Down as FIAS CEO
The Chief Executive Officer of the International SAMBO Federation (FIAS), Michal Buchel, has announced his decision to step down from his role. FIAS expresses profound gratitude for Michal’s unwavering dedication and commitment to advancing SAMBO on the global stage.
During his twelve-year tenure, Michal's leadership facilitated substantial growth and consolidation, significantly enhancing the sport's international standing. His crucial role in defining the strategic path of the organization has elevated SAMBO to new heights of global recognition. Michal's professionalism and steadfast allegiance to the core values and principles of SAMBO have left an indelible mark on the federation's primary initiatives.
During his tenure, and with his direct involvement, FIAS celebrated numerous historic achievements, including securing permanent recognition from prestigious bodies such as the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), and the International World Games Association (IWGA), thereby expanding SAMBO’s global opportunities. His efforts were paramount in establishing productive relationships with leading international sports organizations.
Michal also prioritized the enhancement of fair play principles. His proactive support and engagement have been invaluable in promoting the highest anti-doping standards across the activities of our Federation. His support ensured FIAS’s significant collaboration with WADA and ITA, thus reinforcing SAMBO’s reputation as a progressive and accountable sport.
Moreover, Michal played an integral role in aligning FIAS with global sustainability and social responsibility initiatives, adhering to principles that promote environmental responsibility, social inclusion, and ethical governance.
