Vasily Oshchepkov: Myths and Reality

The name of Vasily Sergeyevitch Oshchepkov is known to anyone who considers himself a sambist. Nonetheless, it’s still shrouded in a cloud of various myths and fantasies. To elucidate the issue, FIAS website addressed Aleksandr Evgenyevitch Kulanov, a historian, an FSS Awards Laureate, and the author of ‘Oshchepkov’ biographical novel released this year in Russia, in the ‘Lives of Remarkable People’ series. He made a list of twelve items corresponding to the facts from Oshchepkov’s biography that get skewed in press and social networks most often. And then, of course, he clarified them.
