Vasily Shestakov Discusses SAMBO Development with Shavkat Mirziyoyev

International SAMBO Federation President Vasily Shestakov met with President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Tashkent.

The meeting took place during the 46th Olympic Council of Asia Congress, which brought together leaders of major international sports federations in the Uzbek capital on January 26.

During the audience with President Mirziyoyev, key aspects of SAMBO's development both in Uzbekistan and on the global stage were discussed. The conversation focused on the remarkable achievements of Uzbek SAMBO and the country's contribution to promoting the sport worldwide.

"The meeting with the President of Uzbekistan was extremely productive," noted FIAS President Vasily Shestakov. "Shavkat Mirziyoyev places great emphasis on developing SAMBO in the country and around the world. This is bearing fruit: the SAMBO Association of Uzbekistan is working effectively across various areas, the country's team is among the world leaders in SAMBO, and Uzbekistan hosts competitions at the highest level. I'd like to remind everyone that this year, Samarkand – an Uzbek city famous for its rich history – will host the 50th World SAMBO Championships, a milestone anniversary."

The upcoming World SAMBO Championships in Samarkand will mark a historic milestone for the international SAMBO community, celebrating an important date in the sport's development.
