All Japan SAMBO Championships held in Tokyo
The All Japan SAMBO Championships were held in Tokyo on February 2. About 100 athletes took part in the national tournament, which was held for the 51st time. In addition to competitions in Sport and Combat SAMBO among adults, medals were also awarded in tournaments in a high school division and masters division.

The organizers noted the great interest in the tournament this year from representatives of various martial arts. Each participant was able to demonstrate their unique style in the fight for medals and the opportunity to represent the country in international competitions. And if previously the attention of Japanese athletes was focused mainly on Sport SAMBO, then this year the organizing committee of the tournament noted the growth of competition in Combat SAMBO.

As reported by the Japan SAMBO Federation, this year the championship was held in an open format, with foreign athletes invited. Chino Sy Tancontian from the Philippines, who took part in the men's Sport SAMBO competition, demonstrated a bright performance. Having won three matches, he secured the champion title in the over 98 kg weight category.

Traditionally, the MVPs (best athletes) of the tournament were named at the Japan Championships. In Sport SAMBO, this title was awarded to the champion in the up to 79 kg weight category, Yuto Ishima, in Combat SAMBO – to the gold medalist in the up to 64 kg weight category, Daisuke Murayama.
