Sambists from 16 countries will compete in the Belarusian Open SAMBO Championships
The Open SAMBO Championships for the prizes of the President of the Republic of Belarus, an A Category International Tournament, will be held in Minsk on February 20 and 21. This February tournament, which will take place for the 20th time this year, is traditionally one of the major international competitions and annually brings together participants from a wide geographic area. This year, representatives of 16 countries will compete on the SAMBO mats in the fight for championship medals.
In addition to the hosts, sambists from Armenia, Germany, Greece, Georgia, Israel, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Russia, Romania, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Ukraine have confirmed their intention to compete in the tournament. The fights will take place over two days in the Minsk Sports Palace. As always, the organizers expect a packed auditorium — Belarusians love and understand SAMBO. For those who can't make it to the arena on these days, the FIAS website is organizing an online broadcast of the championship.
