Ilya Evgenievich Khlybov

Achievements: 5-time world champion, winner of the 2013 Universiade in Kazan, winner of the 2008 TAFISA World Games, 2-time European champion, 6-time Russian champion

Fact: He plays football masterfully and is a regular participant in the Sverdlovsk Region Football Championship as part of the “Sparta” team from Verkhnyaya Pyshma.
“When you step on the mat, you have to believe in success. Even if it doesn’t work out at first, we need to correct mistakes, look for ways to win here and now, and not put it off until later.”
He won his first “gold” at major international competitions in 2006 at the European Championships in Belgorod; Khlybov’s last international gold medal came at the 2016 World Championships in Sofia.
For Khlybov, an example in life and sports is his coach Valery Stennikov, who strives to ensure that SAMBO as a sport becomes more and more popular.
His dream is SAMBO mini-palaces in every city.
