February marathon of SAMBO tournaments in Kyrgyzstan

February was an eventful month for Kyrgyzstani SAMBO athletes. According to the SAMBO Federation of Kyrgyz Republic, the country hosted four major tournaments throughout the month, with over 1,100 athletes competing in total.

The month kicked off with the Bishkek Youth and Junior SAMBO Championships, where young male and female athletes from the capital battled for top honors.

Following the city championship, the National SAMBO Federation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, organized the "Memorial Tournament in Honor of Honored Coach of Kyrgyzstan N.P. Mikhailov."

Next in line were the Kyrgyzstan Youth and Junior Championships, which brought together 560 young athletes.

From February 23 to 27, the K. Kozhomkul Sports Palace in Bishkek hosted the 2025 Kyrgyzstan SAMBO Championships in both Sport and Combat SAMBO. The national championship featured 350 athletes from across the country.

"Based on the results of the national competitions, we have formed our national team. Their first major challenge will be the Asia & Oceania SAMBO Championships, set to take place in April in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Additionally, our athletes will compete in several major international SAMBO tournaments," said Aziz Ibraev, President of the National SAMBO Federation.
